A WithYou volunteer has been honoured for her contributions to our North East Glasgow Recovery Hub.

Marion Armstrong was previously a client of the Hub, which provides a range of support to people facing challenges with drugs and alcohol. Having transformed her life with support from WithYou, she now gives her time to our charity.

To mark Volunteers’ Week (2-8 June 2025), WithYou is celebrating the people who give their time to welcome people into its services, and ensure that they feel comfortable asking for help. Marion has been honoured with our award for Client Impact.

Marion says: "It’s a pleasure and an honour to volunteer for WithYou. I used the service myself and I was given the skills to firstly get sober and then life skills that I never had before. I understand how nervous people can be when they use the service for the first time and I just want to make people feel as comfortable as possible, so really is a pleasure to volunteer and I absolutely love WithYou.

It really is nice to feel appreciated, not that I look for appreciation, I’m usually quite a behind-the-scenes sort of person, but it really is lovely to know that I am recognised for the small part that I play in the service, I feel honoured.

We are keen to bring in more volunteers to support our important work.

Ben Reynolds, head of volunteering at WithYou, says: “Every day, people walk through our doors facing some of the toughest moments of their lives. Because of volunteers like Marion, they don’t have to face it alone. This Volunteers’ Week I want to say a big thank you to every single person who has given up their time to make a real difference in people’s lives.

“Our volunteers are at the very heart of what we do, and by working with us they gain new skills, confidence and connection, and insight into the workings of our services. Whether you've got a few hours a week or just want to learn more, we’d love to hear from you.”
