When it comes to helping people facing drug and alcohol challenges to build healthy, happy futures, providing the right support at the right time is critical.
Our services across Scotland work incredibly hard to make a difference every day. In Glasgow and the Borders, our services have recently been recognised by The Care Inspectorate, the body responsible for the quality of care in Scotland, for their brilliant work.
Our two Glasgow Recovery Hubs, based in Bridgeton and Maryhill, received an ‘excellent’ Grade 6 rating (the highest possible rating) for supporting client wellbeing from the Care Inspectorate after an unannounced inspection. Since they launched in August 2016, the Hubs have worked in partnership with various organisations to provide support to over 6,000 clients. They have now been commended for their ‘sector-leading’ work.
The inspection report states: “The service was sector-leading in the delivery of recovery services in the community. Support was delivered by a skilled and motivated staff team — the majority having their own lived experience of recovery.”
One client from our Glasgow Recovery Hubs said: “I felt a connection with the staff. They don’t come across as staff and I could relate to what they were talking about.”
Louise Stewart, Contracts Manager at With You, says: “The teams in our Hubs work tirelessly to promote inclusion, dignity and choice — their work is life-changing and I want to thank each and every one of them for achieving this exceptional grading.”
The team behind With You’s Galashiels-based Borders service received similar glowing words, receiving fives and sixes across the board in their recent Care Inspectorate report.
The service supports clients in a variety of ways including providing structured one to ones, local community drop-in centres throughout the area, outreach support, family support, online support and recovery cafes.
The highest ratings focused on the team’s ability to support the wellbeing of our clients and recognised the outstanding level of care and support given in the planning process of their recovery.
Here is one shining example quoted in the report:
“People told us how their support was tailored to meet their specific needs, they felt listened to and not judged by any staff. More than one person said, even after discharge, ‘With You would be there for me at any time’.”
When asked about how the service had helped to turn their life around, one client said: “I don’t know how they recognised I wasn’t ready but they did and they were right, I wasn’t ready then and recovery wouldn’t have worked, but when I was ready they were so excited for me. So far they have saved my life.”
With You has been proudly supporting the people of Scotland for almost two decades.
